Lowenstein-Jensen Medium [MB-L1026]
Medium used for the isolation and cultivation of Mycobacterium species.
* Equally use with MFDS (MB-L1026K).
PROCEDURE
Suspend 37.24 G of powder in 588 mL of distilled or deionized water. Add 12 mL of Glycerol supplement (MB-G1821). Heat until completely dissolved. Sterilize by autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes. Cool to 45 - 50°C in water bath. Aseptically add 1000 mL of Egg-Homogenate (MB-E1810). Mix well. Pour into tubes. Arrange tubes in a slanted position. Coagulate the medium at 85°C for 45 minutes in a slanted position.
STORE
The powder is very hygroscopic. Store the powder at room temperature, in a dry environment, in its original container tightly closed and use it before the expiry date on the label or until signs of deterioration or contamination are evident. Store prepared medium at 2 - 8°C.
