Descirption/Introduction

Sodium pyruvate, also known as sodium pyrogluconate. Sodium pyruvate can be used as an alternative carbon source in cell culture, where cells metabolize sodium pyruvate when glucose is insufficient, thus ensuring that cells can grow better. Since cells use sodium pyruvate as an intermediate metabolite in the glycolytic pathway, it is not a required additive for all cell cultures and is a non-essential component. 

This product is a 100 mM concentrate of sodium pyruvate, formulated with ultrapure water and sterilized by 0.22 μm filtration. The working concentration in the cell culture solution is typically 1-4 mM, which is added proportionally to the basal medium as needed. For example if a final concentration of 2 mM is required, add 2 mL of this product per 100 mL of medium.

Storage and Handling Conditions

Ship at room temperature; Store at 2-8 away from light. Valid for 12 months.

1. This product is sterilized by 0.22 μm filtration and should be used with aseptic operation to avoid contamination.

2. This product is a 100 mM concentrate, please dilute as needed and use.
