PCA with BCP (Bromocresol Purple) [MB-P1601]
Medium used for the cultivation and enumeration of Lactobacilli in milk and dairy products.
* Equally use with MFDS (MB-P1601K).
* This is the same standard as the Food Standards Code .
PROCEDURE
Suspend 24.65 G of powder to 1 L of distilled or deionized water. Heat to boiling until completely dissolved. Sterilize by autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes. Cool to 45 - 50°C in water bath. Mix well. Pour into petri dishes.
STORE
The powder is very hygroscopic. Store the powder at room temperature, in a dry environment, in its original container tightly closed and use it before the expiry date on the label or until signs of deterioration or contamination are evident. Store prepared medium at 2 - 8°C.
* PCA with BCP is also listed in the Food Code and is a selective medium used to measure the number of lactic acid bacteria . ( lactic acid liver / coccus )
* Measurement of number of lactic acid bacteria : PCA with BCP or MRS Agar or BL Agar Measurement of number of lactic acid livers / cocci : PCA with BCP
Bifidobacterium count measurement : TOS-MUP Agar
* The color of the existing medium is purple , but when the lactic acid bacteria grow and produce acid, the color of the medium changes to yellow .
