Introduction

NAD is a biological term, β-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, referred to as Coenzyme I. It's an electron-transmitting coenzyme that in the body is the coenzyme of many dehydrogenases, linking the tricarboxylic acid cycle to the respiratory chain, and its function is to transfer hydrogen shed during metabolism to flavin proteins.

NAD is a coenzyme of dehydrogenases, such as alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), which oxidize ethanol. It plays an irreplaceable role in glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, tricarboxylic acid cycle and respiratory chain. The intermediate will give the hydrogen off to NAD, making it NADH.

NAD+ can be involved in glycolysis:

Oral NAD⁺ supplements have been used to combat simple fatigue as well as mysterious and energy-expenditure disorders such as chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia.

In the experiment of using 3β-HSD staining to identify the purity of buffalo testicular mesenchymal stromal cells, NAD was used to prepare a mixed staining solution, 3β-HSD staining solution formula: NAD 1 mg/mL, nitrotetrazolium blue chloride 0.2 mg/mL, dehydroepiandrosterone 0.12 mg/mL, dissolved in PBS phosphate buffer solution.

Note:

Inhalation: If inhaled, move patient to fresh air. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration.

Skin contact: flush with soap and plenty of water.

Eye contact: flush eyes with water as a precaution. 

Eat: don't give unconscious person anything by mouth to feed. Rinse your mouth with water.
