12 months from date of receipt at -20°C to -70°C. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for almost 6 months (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.

BACKGROUND

Acidic Fibroblast Growth Factor (aFGF, also known as FGF1 and HBGF-1), encoded by the FGF1 gene, is a member of the fibroblast growth factor family. Two different forms have isolated that named "acidic fibroblast growth factor" (FGF-1) and "basic fibroblast growth factor" (FGF-2). Human aFGF shares 54% amino acid sequence identity with bFGF. As a multiple function growth factor, aFGF is involved in a wide spectrum of biological functions including tissue development and repair, angiogenesis, proliferation of both epithelial and mesenchymal cells, and tumorigenesis. The biological activities of Acidic Fibroblast Growth Factor depend on binding to four high affinity cell surface receptors (FGFR14), among which, fibroblast growth factor receptor 4 (FGFR4) is highly specific. when aFGF protein is exerted through binding to FGFR4, which results in receptor dimerization and transphosphorylation in the tyrosine kinase domain.

Recombinant Human aFGF Protein was determined by SDS-PAGE with Coomassie Blue.

Measured in a cell proliferation assay using Balb/C 3T3 A31 mouse embryonic fibroblast cells. The ED50 for this effect is 0.01-0.05 μg/mL.
